DR. EMILY GERHARD
DVM
Dr. Gerhard is originally from Schuylkill Haven, PA. She attended Delaware Valley University and then received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Ohio State University in 2020. She worked for a small animal general practice in Ohio prior to moving closer to home and starting at NHVH. Dr. Gerhard’s special interests in the veterinary field include preventative care as well as neurology, surgery, and feline medicine. She is “fear-free certified” and loves to incorporate stress-free handling and other techniques into each visit to help your pet feel as comfortable as possible. When not at the clinic, Dr. Gerhard enjoys spending time with her husband, James, and two adopted cats, Ellie and Maple. She also enjoys weightlifting/powerlifting at the gym and spending time outdoors hiking and kayaking.
DR. AMANDA STRUENING
DVM
Dr. Struening is originally from Ringoes, NJ, and graduated from Delaware Valley College in 2008 with her Bachelor’s Degree of Science, where she majored in small animal science and minored in large animal science. In 2016 she graduated with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Struening started working at NHVH in 2010 as a technician during undergrad and would come back to gain experiences during her spring and summer breaks from veterinary school while attending Auburn. Upon graduation from Auburn, she moved back to the northeast. Since graduation, she has worked at multiple small animal/mixed animal practices around the New Jersey and Pennsylvania area and is currently the full-time veterinarian at NHVH. Dr. Struening enjoys general practice medicine, as well as surgery, dermatology, internal medicine, and mixed animal medicine. In her spare time, Dr. Struening enjoys spending time with her husband, Chris, and their dog, Delilah, in addition to their cat, Gus Gus. When she’s not at the clinic, Dr. Struening loves being outdoors, cooking, watching SEC football, and traveling to new places.
DR. JOHN M MARCUS
VMD
Dr. Marcus graduated from Colorado State University with his baccalaureate degree in animal science. In 1997 he graduated with his Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine. He then pursued an internship in equine medicine in Virginia. Prior to his move to New Hope, Dr. Marcus worked at Steinbach Veterinary Hospital in Blue Bell. In June of 2001, New Hope Veterinary Hospital changed hands, with Dr. Marcus being the new owner. In addition to general veterinary medicine, he has extensive knowledge of surgery, internal medicine, ophthalmology, and dermatology. Dr. Marcus was drawn to the New Hope area by its beauty, small-town atmosphere, artistic community, and diverse population. He is an accomplished artist, frequently using his own pets as subjects for his paintings. Dr. Marcus enjoys spending time with his wife, Angela, his daughter Ruby and his son Leo. They share their home with five dogs, Lucy, Gilbert, Carlos, Phineas, and Princess; also their cat Idabelle, as well as a bunch of chickens. Dr. Marcus also enjoys golf, fishing, and Philadelphia sports teams.

KELLY
Technician
Meet Kelly, a passionate professional dedicated to fostering positive relationships between pet owners and their beloved animals. Her work as a certified animal control officer is a testament to her commitment to ensuring the well-being and proper behavior of pets. One of her favorite aspects of her job is engaging in insightful conversations with clients about their pets’ behavior and working collaboratively to address any challenges they may face.
In her free time, Kelly cherishes moments with her canine companions, Sully, Stella, and Angie. These furry friends are not just pets but cherished members of her family, and she enjoys creating lasting memories with them.
Beyond her love for animals, Kelly has a passion for books and enjoys attending book fairs. Kelly values her time with family, and she relishes the opportunity to hang out with loved ones. If given the chance to possess a superpower, Kelly would choose the ability to fly. Additionally, she’s intrigued by learning to hypnotize people.
MARGARET
Technician
Margaret’s educational journey has been marked by her quest for understanding and expertise in her chosen field. She holds a degree in Animal Science, earned from both the University of Kentucky and Delaware Valley University, with a specialization in Equine breeding. This extensive academic background showcases her commitment to the welfare and betterment of animals, particularly horses. In her professional life, Margaret finds fulfillment in her role, where she excels at educating clients about animal care and welfare. Her dedication to this aspect of her work demonstrates her desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of both animals and their human caretakers.
Margaret shares her life with two beloved pets, Rip Wheeler and Sammy, who are undoubtedly cherished members of her family. Beyond her work and pet companions, she dreams of being a singer. In addition, she has a profound wish to become a veterinarian overnight.
In her leisure time, Margaret enjoys the great outdoors, often hiking with Rip, and cherishes moments spent with friends and family, and traveling.
LORI

Lori is a compassionate and driven individual with a Bachelor of Science degree. One of Lori’s most endearing qualities is her love for animals, particularly puppies. Outside of her professional life, Lori is a devoted mother to her child, Wyatt, and a caring pet owner to her beloved companion, Odie. She enjoys having some alone time and has a deep-seated aspiration for scuba diving. If granted a superpower, she would choose the ability to cure illnesses, including cancer and diabetes.

Introducing Madisen, a multifaceted individual whose journey has been marked by education, sports, and a profound appreciation for the furry companions in our lives.
Madisen pursued her higher education at Lancaster Bible College. As a former middle school and high school basketball coach, Madisen is no stranger to the world of sports. In her professional life, Madisen finds immense joy in being surrounded by pets. The sight of these lovable animals brings a bright smile to her face, underscoring her passion.
During her free time, Madisen enjoys the company of her husband, Noah. Madisen’s interests are reading, writing, and music. If Madisen were granted a superpower, she would choose the ability to control the weather. Additionally, she aspires to learn to drive a stick shift.

Technician
Alexis went to Wilson College, where she successfully earned her Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medical Technology. In her professional life, Alexis finds immense satisfaction in working alongside experienced doctors, learning and honing her skills in various aspects of veterinary medicine. Her specific areas of interest include cytology, anesthesia, and phlebotomy, showcasing her desire to continuously improve and expand her knowledge in the field.
At home, Alexis shares her life with a delightful group of pets. Tipsy, Tango, and Tallulah are not just animals but cherished members of her family. If given the opportunity to possess a superpower, Alexis would choose the ability to communicate with animals. In her leisure time, Alexis enjoys a range of creative and cultural pursuits. She is an avid traveler. She likes to crochet, visit museums, and attend concerts.
Symantha

Meet Symantha, a dynamic individual whose enthusiasm for her work shines through in every aspect of her life. As someone who thrives on novelty, her favorite part of her job is the constant stream of new experiences and, of course, the sheer delight of being surrounded by animals on a daily basis.
In her earlier years, Symantha dedicated an impressive 13 years of her life to competitive dancing. If Symantha were granted a superpower, she would choose the ability to control the weather. Symantha shares her life with her loving husband, Anthony. Their home is a bustling haven for a delightful array of pets, including Summer, Dudley, Tuna, Morgan, Barry, Stella, and Little Guy.
Cassidy

Cassidy graduated from Northern Burlington High School and loves meeting all kinds of different patients and bringing special and personalized care to each of them! She shares her home with her cat, Kevin Raymond Jackson Barnaby Jr, who she rescues from behind a 7-11.
Cassidy is a competitive Pokemon battler and loves entering tournaments. When she’s not battling, she likes to draw, paint, bake sweets, and hunt for shiny Pokemon!
