DR. EMILY GERHARD
DVM
Dr. Gerhard is originally from Schuylkill Haven, PA. She attended Delaware Valley University and then received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Ohio State University in 2020. She worked for a small animal general practice in Ohio prior to moving closer to home and starting at NHVH. Dr. Gerhard’s special interests in the veterinary field include preventative care as well as neurology, surgery, and feline medicine. She is “fear-free certified” and loves to incorporate stress-free handling and other techniques into each visit to help your pet feel as comfortable as possible. When not at the clinic, Dr. Gerhard enjoys spending time with her husband, James, and two adopted cats, Ellie and Maple. She also enjoys weightlifting/powerlifting at the gym and spending time outdoors hiking and kayaking.

DR. AMANDA STRUENING
DVM
Dr. Struening is originally from Ringoes, NJ, and graduated from Delaware Valley College in 2008 with her Bachelor’s Degree of Science, where she majored in small animal science and minored in large animal science. In 2016 she graduated with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Struening started working at NHVH in 2010 as a technician during undergrad and would come back to gain experiences during her spring and summer breaks from veterinary school while attending Auburn. Upon graduation from Auburn, she moved back to the northeast. Since graduation, she has worked at multiple small animal/mixed animal practices around the New Jersey and Pennsylvania area and is currently the full-time veterinarian at NHVH. Dr. Struening enjoys general practice medicine, as well as surgery, dermatology, internal medicine, and mixed animal medicine. In her spare time, Dr. Struening enjoys spending time with her husband, Chris, and their dog, Delilah, in addition to their cat, Gus Gus. When she’s not at the clinic, Dr. Struening loves being outdoors, cooking, watching SEC football, and traveling to new places.

DR. JOHN M MARCUS
VMD
Dr. Marcus graduated from Colorado State University with his baccalaureate degree in animal science. In 1997 he graduated with his Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine. He then pursued an internship in equine medicine in Virginia. Prior to his move to New Hope, Dr. Marcus worked at Steinbach Veterinary Hospital in Blue Bell. In June of 2001, New Hope Veterinary Hospital changed hands, with Dr. Marcus being the new owner. In addition to general veterinary medicine, he has extensive knowledge of surgery, internal medicine, ophthalmology, and dermatology. Dr. Marcus was drawn to the New Hope area by its beauty, small-town atmosphere, artistic community, and diverse population. He is an accomplished artist, frequently using his own pets as subjects for his paintings. Dr. Marcus enjoys spending time with his wife, Angela, his daughter Ruby and his son Leo. They share their home with five dogs, Lucy, Gilbert, Carlos, Phineas, and Princess; also their cat Idabelle, as well as a bunch of chickens. Dr. Marcus also enjoys golf, fishing, and Philadelphia sports teams.

KELLY
Technician
Kelly has been a member of the New Hope Veterinary Hospital team since 2001. She has worked in the animal field since she was 14 years old. Kelly rescued her first cat when she was 9 years old and knew this was her calling in life. She is a registered ACO (Animal Control Officer). Kelly spends all of her spare time with her puppy Sully and his 2 dog brothers Roo and Augie. Kelly also shares her home with four cats and 11 tarantulas. Kelly enjoys reading and going to dog parks.

MARGARET
Technician
Margaret is in her final semester of undergrad at Delaware Valley University. Margaret spent the first 3.5 years of her career at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. She studied equine science for some time in Lexington and now is studying animal science. She has dreams of applying to veterinary school within the next 2 years and cannot wait to gain more experience in surgery here at NHVH. Margaret has a horse named Sammy and 2 dogs named Cooper and Rip Wheeler. She also has a cat named Tito. Margaret has been working in veterinary medicine since 2018 and has been pet-sitting for years before that. You may see Margaret trying to take pictures of your pets around the hospital. She is so excited to meet you and your pets too!
